User comment: USPS Richmond, CA

Mom in AK ships to HI and package ends up in Richmond? Must have been going ground to boat or you are not talking about a post office in Richmond, CA, most likely a regional HUB near a commercial Airport. Either way if your package is truly lost (or stolen by employees) you don't need to contact an individual Post Office. Calling USPS is only a way to make things take longer as they type reports, you are requested to follow up and the customer is still waiting unsatisfied. You need to learn how to fill out an online claim form with proper documentation in PDF format for proof of replacement value + shipping cost. I use a camera picture of computer screen because I can not create a PDF but a camera does. When you fill out the online claim you have the payment made directly to the Buyer and include their verified phone number. Give the Buyer copies of the case# etc, and carry on. The buyer will be satisfied because you are providing for their reimbursement through no fault of your own and on their behalf. If the product shows up later they have a bonus like it is a gift. If you fill out the online form more than once it will become easy and find that it takes about 10 minutes of your time to complete. Calling your customer and letting them know you are their advocate completing the application instead of asking them to follow up as it was shipped and lost will always work to your benefit when it comes to customer satisfaction. It is a hassle but the fastest easiest way to eliminate your loss and liability. Just an observation. " I have to be accountable to my customers and give REFUNDS (several times per month)" I hope you greatly exaggerate or you need to do a better job of describing your items for sale. I have sold four thousand items in the last 4 years on eBay with prices varying from $10 - $1,500 and has only refunded money when a buyer purchases by mistake and pleads to cancel the purchase prior to shipping. Otherwise all items are as described and nothing has ever been refunded even with a 14 day money back guarantee.
